I am getting a new laptop for my job in 2 days which have windows 10 home preinstalled. I already own a PC at home which says "windows is activated with a digital license linked to your Microsoft account." This key was part of free upgrade from windows 8.1 to 10. So, it is the common key that Microsoft sent to everyone. Now, lets say, if I sign in with my MS account on the laptop, will the laptop will be converted to Windows 10 Pro / account will be linked to windows home instead ? Or if I enter a generic win 10 pro key in laptop and then sign in, does my laptop will be linked with "that" digital license's activation ? And will PC face activation problems, if MS account is used on a different device with different hardware ? Or last resort are tools ?
Don't expect that to happen. Possible, but when you use the MSA on another system the first one won't be activated. Why don't you just use MAS for generating a HWID. To answer the thread title: How to online upgrade from Home > Pro by using the generic HWID key for Pro
