Hey, I can't search because "IoT" gets excluded from searches, and there isn't a separate sub for it (the Embedded sub seems to just deal with W7E).. So I have just got a bunch of HP T620s (the thin one, not the Plus), which I am setting up for a special purpose which (non-negotiably) requires a Windows OS. They do have W7E keys on them, and I found the thread with that iso, but it will only be supported for a few more months so I might as well do 10.I just can't seem to find it anywhere. They only have the 16GB SSD, which I would prefer to not have to drop another couple hundred bucks on larger ones if I can use Embedded. The software I'm using does not run on CLI, it requires a GUI so while I would much rather use Core, I can't. Also, it has been a long time since I messed with embedded systems. If I could do the W7/Daz/free upgrade thing on these and just install regular or N version of 10 Pro, I would, but from what I understand W10 will no longer install if there is less than 32GB free. Is there a loader or anything that works on IoT? Thanks
Also, I did download the Thinupdate tool and got the HP images for both W7E and W10IoT. The W10 image refused to install because it said the proper license was not present. I did find a "Field OS Upgrade Kit", which is for upgrading the license to W10 but I'm not paying $110 for it. Anybody know how it works? Is it beatable?
Why not just install normal Win 10 Enterprise, it's the same as IoT but with normal activation options (hwid and kms).
It's only got a 16GB SSD and because these will be deployed in quantity I want them to cost as little as possible,. Upgrading to 32GB would basically double the cost.
Except I can't customize it and create an image for deployment on a set of clients with only 16GB SSD. 64 bit requires 20GB free for a raw install.
Can you please post the exact MVS ISO filename? Because i am confused about what exact IoT Enterprise you are talking about. I am talking about this ISO: Code: Name: en_windows_10_iot_enterprise_version_2004_updated_may_2020_x64_dvd_daa40b99.iso Size: 4816898048 bytes (4593 MiB) CRC32: 365B80F4 CRC64: 786CC90D533C97D5 SHA256: 3F999AAC30825E7007014520816A341066F3D924E488D805838320EEA8654D79 SHA1: 82737938B9BFFCB25236F5F9D7D9CF1D7D7A0F08 BLAKE2sp: EEAB1D35DF58769344FE35EF5C17195369384845142E0744EE2472D55766B144 It contains these SKUs: Code: [01] 11/05/2020 en-US x64 10.0.19041.264 Windows 10 Enterprise | Enterprise [02] 11/05/2020 en-US x64 10.0.19041.264 Windows 10 IoT Enterprise | IoTEnterprise The only difference is the licensing part, the install is exactly the same for both.
I'm looking for whatever allows me to build an image for mass deployment on thin clients with 16GB SSD like the OEMs do, like you could with W7ES and IBW. Like I said, everything I've seen says you can not straight install W10 (except 32 bit) with less than 20GB free. HP has a W10IoT image for the T620, but it refuses to install due to the embedded key being for W7ES. If you can point me to how to embed a W10 key (I know it can be done, as they sell an upgrade kit but it's $110) I'd much rather go that route than building my own image.
You can't make custom builds for IoT Enterprise 10 like you used to do with Windows 7 Embedded, you need to use ntlite or scripts like ToolKitHelper to slim down the image to your needs. I ended up using the regular pro image with toolkithelper, disabled contentdelivery, installed everything I needed for my company and added some scripts to clean up temp files. Still got 5+GB free space on a 16gb wyse machine. To get around limitations during install just apply the system and windows image manually, configure the boot options and tweak to your needs.
How? Space is already limited so you can't expect to have updates working and being only dumb terminals that save everything on a network share and dont have internet access at all, dont have any issue with them, can deploy a new image every 6 to 12 months if needed.
