Windows 10 LTSB still automatically download and install updates even when it is disabled in group policy edit!
Can anyone confirm if it can actually be set to manual update? if so, what settings to be changed?

From what I've heard the only way to do this is to set connection as a metered one.
I don't know if it's possible with updates, but I remember seeing the option in device drivers.

EDIT: This is not true. Metered just turns off "Automatic" downloading. It doesn't give you a choice to pick between the updates.

There's plenty of options in policy editor to completely block updates, but that's not what he wants.

Guys, although it's a bit strange for LTSB (enterprise-focused SKU) not to have selectable updates, it's fine that you can't disable automatic updates.

The purpose is that it only downloads security patches, and stays at RTM. Aren't those two KB updates pre-July 29th updates? It probably will ignore feature updates from here on out (unless it's not on LTSB by default)

You can stop updates in any SKU by disabling the WU Service.

Disabled almost every setting in "Windows Updates" in group policy yet when I click check for updates it automatically download and install them!

    No luck for me!

Yah I told you, I think the only way is metered connection.

So I guess the claims about LTSB/N version about controlling updates were not quite right?

You might be confusing updates with upgrades. It doesn't have the automatic feature upgrades.
In normal versions you can defer the new features, but not stop them.

Lol you're right I am confused. Still cant figure how the user of that thread posted an image of Windows updates and had the option to press "Download" (not automatically downloaded for him/her) and claims they changed that in group policy edit, while I played with Windows Update in group policy and modified some setting yet cant achieve that!

Have that here too. Using metered connection wifi

I think for Ethernet you would enter a bunch of commands to make that happen....The metered for Ethernet
And use the tool show/hide updates

BTW: can anybody please explain how they activated this version. kms.xspace.in
    Or what
    Thanks.

ok so i have win10 enterprise installed (not LTSB).... how to setup it that so i have the most control over updates and upgrades?

i guess that´s something many win10 enterprise user are interested in.

i choose enterprise because i thought i have more options.
    yet i see none. nada...

i checked "defer" updates yet i still even got the nvidia driver update.
i thought we can decide that driver updates are not installed automatically.. even with win10 home?

it´s really a PITA we have to worry about this stuff now.
there is always something with microsoft windows releases.. they like to f..k me in the a**.

Yeah, unfortunately. Maybe in the future some geek might find a solution for ethernet as well. :tasty:
