I just found out about windows 10 LTSB and after going through the post about "Which version of Windows is better" i had some questions 1: Is LTSB limited to just enterprise version ? 2: If i download windows 10 enterprise build 10586 ver 1511 will it come WITHOUT metro app/cortana/telemetry/etc like LTSB ? 3: Does LTSB include windows defender/ option to change update settings ? 4: I want clean Pure OS without much bloatware what would you recommend me Thanks
Hi 1: Yes, Enterprise only, EnterpriseS no pro home or education 2: 10586 always comes with all that since rightfully they didn't make LTSB 1511 ISOs, you get regular enterprise at best as far as now, that edition has all that bloatware 3: Yes, same as the others 4: LTSB and LTSB N if you don't use any microsoft products at all, removing all bloatware from 1511 is a PITA and breaks it
LTSB is the only option if u want clean and stable OS from Microsoft. Other SKUs have a lot of bloatware and s**t preinstalled. And yes it's still 10240.
breaks it how? i was thinking of using some of those scripts etc, to remove some bloat on 1511 Pro. but that is a bad idea? please explain, thanks
check out threads they had problems with activation, components that when removed windows simply breaks, I don't remember well but that happened with the dism commands to remove onedrive as an example, just install pro remove all crap from start menu and settings or go LTSB, but don't use the tools that remove it from the ISO or the tools that change the wim file. Everything works fine, I created LTSB Enterprise by using MSMG tool kit. After installation I used destroy windows 10 spying and other telemetry tweaks.Turned on dot net framework 3.5 and other necessary services, defraged disk and cleaned registry .Now I have widows 10 as it should be.. hxxp:/i.imgur.com/2AU0jiq.jpg
People are acting real proud here about stripping down their OS as like it is something special hehe In fact I think everybody was doing this for a long time as long as the computers are in our lives and now with windows 10 it is a real big thing I don't think so
Go with Windows 7 Ultimate or Ultimate N over LTSB if yoy dont want any bloatware, it is most perfect OS Microsoft ever released.
thanks for your reply. what ms bloat exactly will break 'search' if it is removed? i like search. you recommend 'macsearch' - but it looks like that hasn't been updated for more than 9, nearly 10 years!
And what difference does that make? If something is written RIGHT in first place it does not need to have updates every week (ie Windows 10 itself) Search in parts of Windows 10 are Cortana, in other parts it is still normal search (how illogical is that?) So if one removes Cortana some search does not work (like in Settings), but search in Control Panel works fine
yes, but surely windows has updated some APIs in the past 10 years etc, i would imagine something could be made better/more efficient? regardless, thanks for the help!
