I recently installed Windows 10 LTSC (17763.316) on my HP laptop with an i5 1035G4 processor (10th generation). As far as I can tell, everything seems to work just fine. However, after updating the drivers using Windows Updates, I noticed that under device manager in other devices there are 2 yellow exclation marks. One for the PCI device (\VEN_8086&DEV_34A4&SUBSYS_86C8103C&REV_30\3&11583659&0&FD) and one for the SM Bus Controller (\VEN_8086&DEV_34A4&SUBSYS_86C8103C&REV_30\3&11583659&0&FC). I believe these are related to the chipset "INF" file, which must be updated manually, since Windows Updates, HP Assistant, or the Intel Chipset Utility are unable to do it. I did read that Windows 10 LTSC only supports Intel processors up to 9th generation, so I am assuming this may be the problem why I am unable to download/install the files using the above-mentioned tools. Although, I am not really sure because Windows is running smoothly. So my questions are: 1. Are these updates necessary, and if so, how can I manually download and install the appropriate ones for my laptop to work without causing any issues with Windows 10 LTSC? 2. If they are not able to be downloaded manually or if these updates will not be available until the next LTSC version, which will be until late 2021, what types of limitations or issues will I encounter if I continue to use Windows 10 LTSC without updating the PCI Device and the SM Bus Controller? If there will be possible limitations or issues, I may just switch to Windows 10 Pro as it appears Intel 10th generation processors are supported. Unless any of you can suggest another Windows 10 version to avoid Cortana, App Store, Edge, etc. that would work. Thanks in advance for any help this community can provide me. I also would like to apologize if this is not the correct sub to post these questions.
check on manufacturer website of your laptop or type the hardware ID of the device in google or another
I've tried that and nothing. I have the hardware ID I posted above and it did not help. Speccy provides me the following information. Chipset Vendor: Intel Chipset Model: ID8A12 Chipset Revision: 03 Southbridge Vendor: Intel Southbridge Model: ID3482 Southbridge Revision: 30
I meant I use DoubleDriver just to get the Hardware ID of the drivers. Which I use in searching for drivers at the Microsoft Update Catalog. EDIT: Because when I use the Hardware ID in Device Manager it gives me negative search results. EDIT2: Start DoubleDriver Click Backup Scan Current System Check the PCI Bus and SMBus Then Save (the information to a .txt file)
Amazing explanation regarding the chipset inf files. I learned a lot from your post. I was able to use your AIO package and your easy to follow directions to install the Ice Lake inf files I needed. The yellow exclamation marks are gone. Thank you so much! I could not believe how I was not able to get these files directly from Intel either from their website or their inf utility software. I also tried HP's software and Windows Updates with no luck. I just assumed that Ice Lake was still new and not available for download. However, your method literally took minutes to fix my issue. Thanks again!
Those are most often motherboard drivers, but Windows 10 usually detects them without any need to install anything extra.
Hi I would be grateful for your advice. I performed a clean Win 10 Home install on a new Acer 5 Swift SF514-54T i5 1035G1 processor (10th generation), and I can't find where the chipset drivers can be updated in Device Manager. The Acer website has drivers but I can't understand how to insert these properly and there are no installer packages either. This is the info from Speccy: Motherboard Manufacturer IL Model Yebisu_IL (U3E1) Version V1.07 Chipset Vendor Intel Chipset Model ID8A12 Chipset Revision 03 Southbridge Vendor Intel Southbridge Model ID3482 Southbridge Revision 30 BIOS Brand Insyde Corp. Version V1.07 Date 05/09/2019
No Intel chipset "drivers" need to be updated. If Win10 shouldn't have installed the related INF file automaticly, the Device Manager will show the Intel Chipset Devices as "Unknown Device" with yellow exclamation mark. In this case I recommend to download the AIO package, which I have mentioned above, and install the missing "drivers" manually.
Thank you, that's clearer now. Does the same apply to all other drivers listed on the Acer website, i.e. if there is no yellow exclamation mark should I leave all alone as it is? www acer.com/ac/en/GB/content/support-product/8104?b=1&pn=NX.HHUEK.002
Since I don't have an Acer device, you will have to find it out yourself. By the way: Your link doesn't work for me.
There's a dot between www and acer.com, but I can only post full links after 5 posts on this forum. I am asking as after a clean Win 10 Home install and Windows Updates only, I keep getting BSODs (blue screen errors). I wonder whether my hardware is newer than what Windows Updates can currently support.
Is the bios updated too, except the drivers. try to boot in safe mode to see what's happening. check event viewer. post the BSOD value if possible
