There are two bugs in Win 10 that really annoy me. Maybe somebody here knows a way to solve them somehow.

    1) System sound volume resetting to 100%
Every time I set the system sound volume to a specific level they are somehow resettet to maximum system volume. Is there a registry hack or something to put them permanently to a chosen level?

    2) I work on a laptop. On former Windows builds the screen darkened after about a minute and went black after the screen saver time. On Win 10 some fool ruined that feature so that now the screen darkens about one minute before it is blanking. Does somebody know how to fix this? Maybe there is a variable in the registry that's simply set wrong?

I hope to find some answers here because on google and with the search function I found not a hint. Just that those bugs are there. And NO, they are not features!!

Not experiencing issue 1 at all myself.
    Issue 2
Set your screen saver by going to Control Panel/Personalization and at the bottom choose screen saver and set this to what you want. Than go to Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options\Edit Plan Settings and set your display to Turn off to the same as the screen saver Wait time. 1 minute for both if that is what you want.

For 1), you don’t lose anything by first trying these easy steps, even if their chance of working is moderate.

    1. Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update
Check if sound driver update is available and install it
    2. Right-click speaker in systray > Troubleshoot sound problems
    3. Right-click Start > open Command Prompt as Admin > enter: sfc /scannow
to check integrity of system files.

Both of these errors are in your system! Your system errors.
When did you last did a clean install of Windows? This is the only thing that will help you immediately and quickly.
    There is nothing to repair.

It is also a sign that your Windows is not okay.
If you delete shortcut link on the desktop and then do refresh, it must in any case be lost.
But even this is not normal, if you need to refresh manually.

If it does not disappear even after a restart, try using CCleaner to delete the obsolete registry keys. If still does not work, try to "Rebuild Iconcache", if this does not work, then the problem is more serious and probably will help only new Windows installation.
At least this is the most reliable and faster.

IconCache.db is hidden file in folder %userprofile%\appdata\local\ or simply %LocalAppData%\

NB! When you begin to rebuild icon cache, the icons on the desktop are moving new location.

This doesn't work for me with a clean installed Win10 Pro Build 15019. The system file check finds corrupted files, which cannot be repaired, and the RestoreHealth command doesn't work at all with this Build.

This is perfectly normal, everything is so as it should be. You cannot use this command, and also Dism commands.

I had a issue like your first one but you haven't said about it in detail so i can't say. For me volume resetted to 100% if i pause/play any video, be it on browser or on local storage. I manually reinstalled the driver and its fine now. Hope this helps you
Two issues which are recent and unfixed for me after cumulative update KB3213986 are
    1. Broken windows firewall, i use tinywall and since last update firewall isn't working. I haven't tried any 3rd party firewall yet.
    2. lockscreen is without wallpaper & wallpaper shows up when entered in the login window. This doesn't happen after a fresh bootup but after a wakeup when left idle.

CCleaner worked for me! Thanks a lot!
Will confirm if it will appear again after reboot.

Edit: The icon came back even before I reboot! Deleting it cause the same issue again. I am doomed!

I know that. I just mentioned this sfc command bug, because someone recommended to run sfc /scannow as solution to fix another bug.

By the way - my clean installed Win10 x64 Pro Build 15019 shows another bug (haven't seen it in previous Builds): It is impossible to rename resp. to give drive C a name frome within the Disk Management. It just happens nothing!

SFC not being able to run is not a bug, it probably is disabled by design.

Maybe my descriptions were a bit unclear. English is not my foreign language. :g:

to 1) All my drivers are up to date, more than the ones provided from windows update (oh wonder). I do all the driver updates by myself since Win95 times, directly from the manufacturer websites (up-to-date junkie :whistling:). So that is not the problem of the self resetting system sounds volume (not mistaken with main system volume). If it were, all the other volumes would reset themselfes also, just by logical deduction. If you use google, you will see that this problem is part of win 10 since one of the previews if I remember things correctly.

to 2) I do not want to blank the screen after one minute. I want windows 10, like on windows 7, to automatically reduce brightness after one minute. After the set blank time it can blank as it should. It is stupid useless that win 10 is reducing brightness one minute before blanking. This feature should save power and does it no more. Screen brightness reduction is just a laptop feature, even if it were also useful for desktop machines.
