that worked! its normal it would say error on 0001, the registry 0000 is the problem key. It's not disabled by standard, the tool would of told you when you first ran it that it was enabled, its disabled now, just reboot and you're done if you had one of the problem cards your wakeup time will of gone from 20-50 seconds to about 3 seconds.
the advanced version v1.1.4 exe was blocked from being downloaded by defender, said it could contain a virus or malware.
It's because its a script that modifies the registry, download the .bat version if you can't get the exe. Defender doesn't block it for me? odd.
Yes, you're correct it's mostly only a laptop issue and I can't imagine AMD fixing it as they say its not their problem as its mostly from what I've seen on dual video card systems, most the laptop manufacturers made them including Sony, Toshiba, Asus and HP. The problem is when you install the manufacturers driver that works fine Windows forced updates go and install a driver that stuffs you up again straight away. This can obviously be solved by a more savvy person by disabling Windows from updating drivers but it does expose a flaw in the MS policy of forced driver updates. There must be a million laptops around the world with this issue. At least using this method drivers can be updated fine to the latest versions and standby will stay working fine. If you run the manufacturer driver you're stuck on old versions as they have no care to update drivers for Win10 on a notebook model they don't sell anymore. They will just tell you to stick on Windows 8 that the notebook was certified to run on.
Maybe it is AMD's problem, I checked their driver information and it includes the Intel driver for the multi card systems. Catalyst 15.9.1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Major Changelog: - Includes AMD Graphic Driver (ver. 09/29/2015, 15.201.1151.1004). - Includes Intel HD Graphics (Legacy, ver. 8.15.10.2900). - Includes Intel HD Graphics (Modern, ver. 9.17.10.4229). - Includes Intel HD Graphics (Iris, ver. 10.18.10.4276). - Includes Intel HD Graphics (Iris Pro/ Haswell / Broadwell, ver. 10.18.14.4279). - Includes AMD HDMI audio driver (Win7: 7.12.0.7723, Win8.1: 9.0.0.9909, Win10:10.0.0.01). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Why would they include all of that Intel Driver gear in their driver and not take responsibility for the problems it causes. Some machines can take over a minute to wake from standby, others don't wake at all.
A bit curious as to what you mean by "dedicated graphics"...? If you mean that you wouldn't buy a laptop with any GPU other than one integrated into the cpu, I'd probably agree with that, pretty much. But as far as desktops go, I never buy or build them with an IGP--I always go with a dedicated 3d GPU--but I fire up 3d games, too, and that's why...
