Neither nor. So far it's planned to be an additional deployment path for Enterprises, according to MS.

Currently it is planned for additional deployment for enterprise but what will be Microsoft's attitude after 2023 when they are able to kill off 8.1 and nothing else is available ?

M$ has been running a subscription based office platform for several years now, and it must be profitable enough to keep doing it, I don't see anything to stop M$ from expanding their MMD idea into the future to include home versions also

If that ever happens I really need to reconsider my options and maybe stay with a specific version before the subscription started.

Back just 10 yrs ago I never would have thought that Microsoft would promote advertising (aka adware) and place a keylogger in the latest os in 2015. That would have sounded outrageous in 2008, but today the sheeple accept it and are blissfully ignorant. How will the sheeple react to a subscription at some point after 2023?
