I installed Windows 10 on a vhd with 50Gigs via "Dism /apply-Image... " and added a bootmenue entry ...
You should not install this on a production PC, although I did and it works great, you need to do a clean install from a USB drive.
MS explained in their infos about Windows 10 that a clean installation is required! If you fail because you you didn't follow the developers recommendation, who's fault is that?
Yes you can do an upgrade that's how I installed win10 tp. All you do is run setup.exe. So you know that its possible, just what is causing your issue is the question. Just some extra info about the upgrade paths available.
hi just did an upgrade. did as suggested. removed antivirus. also cleared some more free space on my drive just in case that was an issue. after removing antivirus it suggested restarting my computer to completely remove it so i did. then i ran the setup again and during that this time, got a couple messages from windows defender saying it detected malware, and then got the message unable to upgrade again. so i closed it and disabled the windows defender real time protection, and then ran the set up again. this time it worked! took quite a while to install it though id say an hour or more so need to have patience and let it finish. haven't checked yet to see whats working and whats not yet though. hope that helps. have a good one.
It's almost definitely some sort of program that is blocking things. You might have some malware blocking things if you don't have a security program blocking things.
You are not alone here. Windows 10 installer just quits after it reaches the point where it is supposed to restart and then nothing happens. Still trying to figure out whats going on. EDIT: Found that I was running out of disk space. Had to clear out my C to have atleast 13GB free space and then it installed just fine.
i had bugs in install that were solved by using a 32 Go usb key instead of 8 [may be 16 works] what i mean is there are some changes like the win7-8 boot partition that was 100 Mo is now 350 Mo... may be you should re size partitions and try install or let install uses a blank hd
