If you click on Show network adapters on the Network Icon you will se both Ethernet and Wireless adapters. My problem is I want to reset the Ethernet adapter to "1" and the Wireless adapter to "1" Right now the Ethernet connection is showing "7" and the Wi-Fi connection is showing "15" I've gone thru the reset procedures and I still can't reset either of the devices back to defaults or "1". Can you help?

    Network Connections.jpg I can't reset "Ethernet 11" or "Wi-Fi 15" back to either defaults or "1"
I have gone thru the Status reset and rebooted the laptop, but it keeps coming back like the example above/
I can't find the network connections in "regedit" that apply to these settings. They keep going up.
    Thanks for your help

It's true, you should be able rename them, but much more interesting is where did you got those names, why they are there. What the reason.
Maybe You have some old hidden or incompletely deleted data there somewhere? If so, you will not be able to use the names already in use for renaming and usually after the name will added number.
I have never seen something similar.
I have such on this laptop

Remove both devices from device manager without deleting the driver, upon a computer restart, windows will redetect them and names should appear correct.

That doesn't work to remove the number at the end of the network adapter name. If it's Wi-Fi 2 you can't rename it to Wi-Fi. You can rename it to WiFi for wi-fi and LAN for ethernet though.

I did what was suggested above and just renamed the Ethernet to "1" and the Wi-Fi to "1" and they both work even with a reboot they stayed what I renamed them. I do remember in Windows 7 there was a way to reset these devices back to "1". Thanks for all your help and support.

Sorry, but why don't you want to name them as they usually should be, ie only names without any kind of numbers?
By default is no numbers there.
