Windows 2000 Server cannot read Windows 2012 AD security groups

    we have an old Citrix farm (Presentation Server 4.0) running on Windows 2000 Server

    I am aware that MS does not support Win2k servers in a Win2k12 environment

    the Win2k servers can read individual user accounts from a Win2k12 DC but cannot read security groups

    does anyone know of a trick to make this work?

    because of this issue, we have to maintain a Win2k8 R2 DC against which the farm can read security groups properly in AD

    No trick, you need newer version of Win Server try to upgrade server to Windows 2003.

    what's the current domain functional level?
    maybe we can get them to work as read only.
    but in all seriousness, upgrade them.
