    Hi Experts

I have got brand new ASUS mother board P9 X79 Pro that has a built-in LAN Intel 82579V

I installed windows 2008 R Enterprise Edition , then I tried to use the driver for the LAN from the motherboard CD but it didn't get installed.

Then I downloaded the driver for the built-in LAN Intel 82579V from Intel website

I tried to follow the follow step 4 to 15 in the link below, but no joy, I couldn't extract (only I can run ) the driver that

    hxxp:xxblogs.technet.com/b/keithcombs/archive/2008/10/18/installing-windows-server-2008-x64-on-the-lenovo-thinkpad-t400.aspx

    hxxp should be http

    xxblogs should be //blogs

Right now in the device manager I have got two devices that have two yellow exclamation marks :

    Ethernet Controller
    Unknown devices

Any advice how to come over this issue ?

    Thanks

But issue I was not able to extract .exe intel LAN driver to a folder to reapply the same procedure in the quote above

This is one didn't help to install the driver , although I tried that couple of times.

I am going to try that , but if it is .exe can you extract it ?

Yes you are right, because it is a fresh installation and I I fogot to install a zip program, once I installed one of them I was able to extract .exe file.

Now still facing same issue can't get the proper driver to be installed.

While If I try from the CD that came with motherboard to install the driver the below message pops uo

    Code:
Cannot install drivers. No Intel(R) Adapters are presented in this computer

Before I installed windows 2008 , there was windows 7 installed and the LAN connection was working fine, means it was already enabled in the BIOS, although I had checked that after installing windows 2008.

    Yes there is.

I will try again and update you now

If you can not extract driver, then it is definitely time to give up on Windows server.
