    Hi world:

I feel like Larry Laffer, but instead of "Looking for Love" I am getting desperate for looking for my 2008 Media Kit. I have my COA here on the server, but don't have the media anymore.

I kindly ask to guide me to the direction what you would recommend to do. Or maybe you have a HP Win 2008 R2 Standard for HP ready on a ftp server? :flowers:

    Second part:
This having said, I have a 2nd question: My employer cut down the IT budget and I need to replace a server. The funds would be fine for a used server and I looked at an IBM or Dell, but these servers come without an OS.
Would I order a standard OEM 2008 R2 license to install it on this server or would I need a branded one? Until now I always had the OS come with the server....

I thank you for all your replies.

Thank you very much, Cole. I am giving it a try this week end. :)) Leaving to our satellite location for two days now.

May I ask if you have an idea in regards of my 2nd question? If I buy a OEM win2008 r2 Standard, will the key work on my IBM/DELL/HP server?

Although the OS may not be installed it most likely has slic 2.1 in the bios but you won't know until you get the machine .. Either way with slic 2.1 present either from OEM or through a bios mod to place the slic 2.1 in the bios you will have no problems activating with Oem certificate and key .. If you are unfamiliar with this process post back and I will try and point you in the right direction

Guys, I am very grateful for all the help I am receiving. I asked my team leader to order the IBM. It looked like a very decent machine and a bit better hardware wise than the Dell. Very excited about the challenge (knowing that I have great help here). :))

    See you soon again here!

Hmmm. This is getting fun... lol.

This is what I get: "Dump Error ! (SLIC Table Not found ! ):

So I assume that my IBM 3500 xSeries needs some more TLC from me. The good thing is that I am not worried- I have you guys with me. I ll do some search now here and look what to do.

Here a BTW Question: Due to the fact that all servers usually came preinstalled I am a bit worried that I now installed "en_sql_server_2008_r2_standard_x86_x64_ia64_dvd_521546", but getting told that it is Win2008r2 Foundation and not standard. Does it become standard once acitivated, or is the en_sql_server_2008_r2_standard_x86_x64_ia64_dvd_521546 file wrong?

The file I mentioned above was actually NOT a standard, but foundation edition of win2k8r2.
