I don't get it what you guys are talking about. It seem to be working for me. I can see all my other computer that are on my network. I can share and transfer file to one and another with no problem.

does your local network have only vista/win7 boxes? because you might notice we are having problems with xp/linux boxes :) i can manualy connect with \\IP\ as well and link shares and transfer files, but thats not the point.

7057 is a dev build with some broken features that hopefully will be fixed in the next leaked build.
Just stick to the 7048 since many people reported networking bugs with 7057 all over the tech-boards.

    Same problem here, 7057x64.

My Qnap is not seen and the icon on the taskbar tells "unidentified network" too.

Same here except it plays nicely with the home connector software. Make sure your using the latest version. It's working on both my 32 and 64 bit systems.

Ahh ... i see. My network only contain Vista and Windows 7. Maybe this is not a bug, it's probably just something that Microsof want to do to get people to upgrade from Xp to Vista and Windows 7 in the future you guys think?

UNC paths work fine, but yeah network discovery in this build is borked. I can't see any machines in my DOMAIN, but all are accessible using UNC...

do you have other win7/vista computers and cant see them? if so check if you are part of same workgroup/domain. However i would bother if they are not win7/vista computers, because its probably bug in netbios protocol of current build. I know prebeta1 already had some problems with network sharing. I think back then you could see other computers with linux/xp but was no way to connect to them, now it seems its other way around :)

I reply to both. My previous attempt to install 7057_x64 was on my home PC. There I have a Qnap NAS and some other network devices. I had the network discovery problem and put Vista back.

Today I read that message on Neowin forum and I tried to install 7057 on a VMWare machine on my work PC. After having turned the discovery service on and IPV6 off, I have no problems seeing even my 2003 servers and my network printers. If I will get brave enough, I could try a local installation too. ;)

I have tried a lot of things, disabling ipv6, stopping and restarting services...
No result... The 'bug' is always here !!!
this is a vmware installation, i can't try it as a native one on my PCs.
Version 7048 is ok for networking tasks.
