I installed Windows 7 Ultimate a couple of days ago. Laptop was working like brand new. Windows advised me to get an anti-virus program, which I did after using the web for updates, mail, general browsing etc. Ever since I installed Kaspersky AntiVirus 2010, it seems as though my CPU loads more often. As well, it scans for trojans, viruses, spyware etc constantly, and so far it has found 360 threats, but no trojans, viruses, just threats. It detects 360 of some files that is similar to a PDM.Invader, which I don't know what that is. I thought Kaspersky was good but I'm not sure, it has slowed my laptop down a little bit and it doesn't even clean those threats, even when I do a full system scan it doesn't detect those threats. And it constantly scans, so far it has scanned close to 400 000 files and there is hardly anything on my laptop. I'm not sure of what to do at this point as this has been annoying me for the whole day (the PDM.Invader threats has been appearing in constant intervals). If anyone can help me out that would be great. Thanks.

What file is it claiming could be a threat?

I am not a fan of Kaspersky at all.

    It says,

    Detected PDM Invader

    Reason: Action Selected by User

    Application: Absent

Like when I download a file that threat message comes up

PDM.Invader is a behavioral detection from Proactive Defense. You need to make sure you have it configured properly. Or you can turn it off.

    Check this as well

Settings > Protection > uncheck Select action automatically > ok

You will then get popups asking what you would like to do.

May i just say that Kaspersky is a very good AV, it detects a lot of threats with low amount of false positives.
Though it is a resource-hogg. Uses lots of resources and slows down your system, little or large amount, depending on your system.

Never the less, if your system is fast or very fast, you won't notice it that much

I looked @ the Kaspersky history of what it has detected....and it found trojans, it tried to quarantine them, but it said it could not........I really don't know how I got those trojans......and my laptop is loading like crazy.....

Runs great for me. Love Kaspersky, have it running on my 7 and vista pc's plus it runs on about 15 xp machines. No issues on any of them.

i agree. allthough K is a good performing AV, it hoggs up resources too much. If you have a very fast system, it isn't that bad, but still...

ESET is VERY good as a standalone AV, but it's firewall app is very basic, and not considered to be among the best.

I just quickly went through some of my App sources but no success in finding a clean & working version of anti-virus for win 7 which made me to settle with free version of Avast anti virus. And its really not that bad.
