I call it a total BS ! I have worked on many waaaay too many Vista computers and they required some serious (and I mean - SERIOUS) tweaking to be usable... by usable I mean - not so much slower than XP. With 7 I get nearly the same results as with my tweaks in Vista, but actually - without doing anything except disabling some unneeded startup items, not even tweaking the services...
...some of the software they installed must have been viruses in order to achieve a boot time of two and a half minutes...what, did they install Windows 7 on a Pentium II or something? That is just totally ridiculous, that right there makes the "study" laughable...
Windows 7? Screwed Vista!! I've been working on xp, vista, and 7 platforms.. Simply put, I don't care about what M$ or others have to claim.. I follow my own knowledge and experience.. As far as I can see, Windows 7 is faster than Vista under all circumstances..
Makes me wonder what the computer specs were that they installed Windows 7 on. Bet they tried it with a crap pc.
I bet Iolo is getting ripped for submitting a crap "test". Most everyone i know that runs Win 7 has quicker boot times then Vista, but then again your talking about a software company that makes crap products. Probably made up that test because M$ would not give them a Microsoft Certified Software sticker LOL.
IMO...Driver is the Main problem... 7 will be faster than Vista when all proper Hardware Driver Release....
seriously though you want to see fast boot up times.... my DOS box running on my Quad core boots up in less than 10 seconds and is usable!! LOL. Yeah after reading just the few comments posted it seems like it is a big blog posting that reads more like one of those studies commissioned by MS to show how MS is always better, but in this case this company. I don't know how they can even say this, even on good systems Vista SP2 takes a good minute or 3 once you are at the desktop for the hard drive to stop thrashing. Also hardware makes a big difference... "we tested windows 7 on this intel P4 with 256mb of RAM and got xyz. We test Vista on a Intel i7 with 4 gb of RAM and it boots faster" - see I just showed that Vista boots faster than 7 LOL. With the new EFI BIOS by Phoenix you can see the videos of Windows 7 booting in 10 seconds.
Lol A study for the booting time of computers.... I had Vista and am now using Win7. From pressing the power button to having a fully operational Windows it only takes about 60 seconds. No comparison to Windows Vista (Windows Millenium 2).
