Is it windows 7 sp1 includes directX11.0 i have installed a video-player s/w "potplayer daum" it says the problem of lacking directX9... Isn't it that directX11 compatible with directX9 or 10?? thanks for reply.
The Directx installer for Windows 7 (and 8) isn't Directx 9, just the package contains Directx 9.0c which is ONLY for XP. Windows Vista, 7, and 8 all support Directx 9. The Directx installer is to install 'Managed Directx', basically Directx extensions. The installer is much larger than it really needs to be, because although each newer 'version' of the same thing includes all of the extensions from the previous files, basically every one is installed for compatibility. Of course, a much smarter way would be to have one file with version descriptors in it (that point to a different code if required for compatibility) since it would significantly cut down on the amount of space required. This is why there are what appears to be the same files but with different suffixes, such as _39, _42 etc. Even though it isn't distributed, the latest extensions I know of (and this may be superseded now) is _46.
no problem. best to install the latest DirectX Redistributable package (June 2010) which includes all the essential DirectX files including the "managed directx" extension files
