Then delete them, is obviously not real update, or they were superseded by a newer update.

yea a *.msu file is just a *.cab you can slip something in take something out :p

if you have winrar you can tell it to open up a msu file and see whats inside but then the whole codesigning\digital signature gets broken if you add or change something

right click the *.msu file and look at the digital signature tab if there is any if not its bad

if it is there then it should say microsoft corporation if it does then its ok :D

It's probably a ZUKONA updates, just skip it, is not needed.

ZUKONA leaked a bunch of beta stage updates before Windows Updates started supporting W7. Some people chose to install them, I did not.

So of the 30-40 updates from Zukona, all released last august, can anyone tell me how many of them actually made it to the real windows update. +1 rep for the correct answer.

    hey thx!!

    sigh of relief...

    the digital signature says

    name of signer: Microsoft Corporation
    email address: not available
    timestamp: Friday, July 24, 2009 11:31:09 AM

this conclusively means i have a legit copy of windows update right??no malicious virus etc possible.

    ^^:):)

Is trick question - answer was zero. None of the July dated leaked updates were released publicly

They were all superseded by other updates.

Ayup, you are fine, but do install the current updates, they may include something that was missing back in Jul when Zukona released those.

Hardly, claiming to not know the answer when one does not actually know the answer is by definition the smartest thing to do. Ask Socrates.
