@hb860 Thanks for the fixing the issues - can you please elaborate how did you solve the incompatibility?
GACrabill it is a good idea to tell which WIndows 10 build you are running and which display language you are using? It is en-US?
desktop.ini is missing the @ symbol before each path, and it's visible. Also the 'Start Menu\Programs\Games' folder should have Read only or System attribute.
Yes, en-US. I have not had a problem with installing the Games from this thread : forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/56428-Windows-7-Games-for-Windows-8-8-1-Multilanguage I have upgraded about a dozen Win7 PCs in the last couple of months to Win10 and always had success with the Games from the above thread (may I call them ver.1). The two laptops being upgraded this weekend using the GWX icon were to get the ver.2 Games ... but both laptops displayed the Game locations rather than the Game names. Both laptops have been reverted to ver.1 Games .... I guess that makes two more PCs that will need a new version of the games in a few months. Win10 version after install and updates : The desktop.ini file(s) were removed from all Games folders (including Saved Games) ... but a reboot and new install of the ver.2 Games always results in Game locations rather than Game names. Ver.1 Games installed after reboot : Ver.2 Games installed after uninstall of Ver.1 Games and a reboot : One other item of interest : the install of the ver.2 Games takes considerably longer than the install of the ver.1 Games. UPDATE : I went back to the original thread (forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/56428-Windows-7-Games-for-Windows-8-8-1-Multilanguage) and discovered that ElDiabl0 has updated the ver.1 to include the fixes needed to make it a ver.2 and therefore work with the Win10 Anniversary update. I downloaded that new version and it installs and looks perfect. This thread's ver.2 from Winaero (with a smaller and slower install) simply does not look correct on my PCs. Thanks to everyone who have contributed to keeping the Games alive.
@GACrabill they're not the same installers and this isn't really a v2 of that install package. The reason he labeled it as v2 is so that the people downloading it from his website know this is a new installer and not the old one that doesn't work on the insider preview builds. But I've also updated my installer so you could also download that if you want (the one in the Windows 8 section of this forum). And I'm sure he'll fix these bugs soon (they're pretty easy to fix). Regarding the install speed it's because of the compression he chose. Mine installs faster but it's also 24 Megabytes bigger.
Oh Please tell me how to download the installer so I can set up Windows 7 games on my new windows 10 surface pro 4
