A friend of mine just bought a laptop from someone used. It came with Windows 7 Home with the pre-activated OEM without license key. I am guessing the key is stored in BIOS. The friend wants to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro. I thought about doing a wipe and install from the Windows 10 license I have via a Dreamspark account. I have read that if the key is in BIOS it will be a royal PITA to get it to go to Windows 10 Pro; that it likely will Install Windows 10 Home. Is this correct? If so, what is the most efficient way to get this to Windows 10 Pro?
Disconnect From The Internet Really Important. Use Windows anytime upgrade to get to Ultimate using the 22TKD Key. Check to see if it's activated and if necessary (Doubt it's necessary) Daz it again. Connect to the Internet and Upgrade to Win 10 Pro
Thank you! I was hoping that I could just wipe the drive and install Windows 10 Pro without an issue but it is a little more complicated than that. No biggie. I will just take my time and do it right.
Just going by your avatar, I'd say you're from the South, know what grits are, were/still are a hippy, you like country music, when country wasn't cool, know who Merle Haggard was, it would not take much to get you riled up, have/still do smokem peace pipe (maybe more) For whatever reasons, turned to computers and pretty much mastered them, we are grateful to have you, snif, snif, remember, you only have so many activations
