    Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum and have been reading up on how to properly reinstall Windows 7 on my Gateway Desktop. First a bit of history. My computer was startig to have intermittent boot failures and errors so I backed up all of my important docuemnts, pictures, etc. Shortly after that, I could no longer get the computer to boot. I have determined that the hard drive in the machine has failed and I have no accesss to the partition with the OS.

I want to download the ISO file I need but am uncertain as to what else I need in terms of loaders etc. It seems the more I read on the toipic, the more confused I get. I have the Windows Product Key Sticker on the side of my machine and it states that the computer has Windows 7 Home Premium OA installed. Can someone please provide me the steps I need to take in order to complete the re-installation of Windows 7? I'm not completely illiterate when it comes to computers and can follow instructions well, but when it comes to code and loaders etc., I do get a bit confused. My plan is to re-install from a DVD unless a USB key is deemed a better way to proceed. I just don't know if the BIOS on my machine allows booting from USB. Also, I know that the front USB ports have never worked on this machine (were never hooked up).

    Thanks in advance.

    Mark in Vancouver, BC.

All you really need to do is download the .iso from this forum then burn it to disk to create the installation disk. If you're looking to use a loader, Daz's is the only one to use; get it too from this forum. After the OS is installed, you run it like you would any other program.

    You're welcome in retrospect.

Thanks for the info. I was looking in the Windows 7 Direct Downloads thread and am still a litle unclear as to which one I require. I know I need the 64 bit version. Do I need to verify things like hashes prior to install? This is the sort of information which I found confusing and eluded to in my original post.

    Thanks again.

Isn't that link for Windows 7 Ultimate? I'm concerned my key for Windows 7 Home Premium won't work for that????
