I installed Windows 7 x64 on my desktop (using the same disk which I used to successfully install it on my laptop).

It finishes the installation process just fine, but when I boot up, I'm stuck at the black screen before "Welcome to Windows", like, it doesn't boot up at all, the bootloader seems to be there but there's no boot.

Happened two times already, fixing the boot using the W7 DVD didn't help, it says it's all fine.

    Any ideas?

P.S.: It doesn't even boot up to do the post install (username, activation, etc).

Can you boot using safe mode?
If so, then run msconfig and try turning things off, like No GUi boot.

Looks like a bootrec /fixmbr and bootrec /fixboot did the job.

I'll try again and keep you guys updated on how it went.

    Edit: Worked fine now!

Maybe the old XP bootloader managed to f**k up the new one. Who knows!
