just wanted to post even on my $4,000 rig Windows 7 is what I use noway on win10 Windows 7 is king of OS after support ends Linux will be hot
Top-of-the-line Dell 486 with a 66MHz processor, eight megabytes of RAM and a 320-megabyte hard drive I paid $4,400 and it was on sale I was so happy. 1993
These days, programs are eating more and more RAM, disks and CPU. I feel that app producers assume that we have a lot of time, CPU and disks.
I think that windows xp and windows 7 are the top. Unfortunately, Microsoft is quite reluctant to release SP2 for windows 7, which I believe is associated with its efforts to enter the mobile market with windows 8 and especially 10 series.
Microsoft can not profit from Windows 7 as they profit from 10. It's really all about making money just like all other business. Microsoft has no care about you. The bottom line is the amount of dollars it can gain from you.
It's a joke, right? M$ made and makes money on selling OEM/Retail licenses, regardless it's Windows 3.11 or 10. They could still sell Windows 7 SP1 if they wanted to, but they don't want to do it. M$
They profit from the dependency of the (large) customers which still persists, especially at corporate licenses....sooner or later they have to leave w7 behind...but not windows due to the dependency M$ doesn't play a role where current IT trends are situated....@mobile and tablet stuff....
Microsoft sells Windows 7 and makes a $100. or so on each license, Windows 7 does not make any $$$ after the sale..... Microsoft gives away Windows 10 and 10 will continue to make money for the rest of that pc's life through the M$ store and advertising. And that's not counting the profit they get from selling Windows 10 after July 31st 2016 Google has proven that they can be very profitable just by selling apps and advertising dollars. Microsoft is going to follow that business plan too.
Don't matter. Ppl have made DirectX 10/11 patches for UT '99. You can also get a DirectX 10/11 patch for XP system files (effort by hack team)! Don't matter which one u use. The result is the same. XP trounces Win7 trounces Win 8.1...
Think I'll stay with 7. Unless there may come a huge wraparound touch monitor by some good fortune.... I do run XP on some older stuff for CCTV (networked but not on interweb), flashing phones, tablets and sitch.
THe data on Win7 computers cannot be accessed and collected by M$ in the way they can on Win10. As the money is where the data are, they made a corrct business decision no to extend support. I do not have a problem with that, as I cannot see, what that has to do with me.... In our family we believe i using computers, instad of letting them use us. Win7 does everything I need, I see absolutely not the slightest reason why I would want anything from Win10 on my computer. I do appreciate that more and more people use Win10, because that means in the long run, that viruses will be designed to attack that platform.
