Click on Start orb, type cmd, then in the results window, right click on cmd, choose run as administrator. Then type the slmgr command at the prompt.
chances are you bought a laptop with a pirated version of windows 7 installed on it. Even if it works great the first thing I would do when getting a used computer is reinstall anyway. Use the digital river links and download and untouched version of windows 7. Then do a search for windows loader on the site and use that.
thanks to all for your help. I have changed the key 3 times now exactly as explained but every time the messages appear telling me the copy is not genuine, it does not give me chance to revalidate it. Does this mean I have no other option other than download and burn a copy etc? I am going in hospital for minor surgery soon and would like to take the laptop with me,preferably without any problems! thanks so much all of you--julie
I´m having an similar problem. My wife has an Acer 1410 with came with Windows 7 Starter. I updated it to Windows Home premium just replacing the serial. it worked fine for just an year but yesterday it came with the not genuine message. It have an slic 2.1 bios (according to everest) and I tried to register with the certificate from the forum but had no results. I discovery that the certificate that came with the acer was different from the available on the forum. I´ll try the MGADiag and post the results here. Any ideias? thanks Frodex

Slic table is still there, your also missing the windows marker. You said you updated your BIOS right? Did you flash the BIOS from windows or you do it from DOS?
It was from windows since it´s an netbook and doesn´t have any kind of drive, just usb an card reader. I see your point. I´ll try to make an DOS boot pen drive an upgrade again from there to seen if it works. Have to go now. Thanks
