hello, this is my first post and I hope I have written in the right section. I have a problem on the OEM license windows 7 home premium x64 my notebook Hewlett-Packard Pavilion dv6-2153el. In 2010 I bought the notebook with his OEM license and now in 2015 because I had to replace the faulty HD 500GB with a 750GB. After meso the new hard drive, with 4 HP Recovery discs, I restored the notebook to the factory. The first reboot of Windows 7, I noticed that the windows update service does not work anymore. Microsoft Italy in which I called I said the cause of the problem is the license windows locked in SLP-OEM. Microsoft said the block SLP-OEM has been put by the manufacturer Hewlett-Packard, because I replaced the hard disk failure with a new hard drive. I called HP Italy denies that it put the block SLP-OEM and said it could not solve my problem. Have you ever had a hang OEM license for a simple change hard disk? You can solve this problem of the blockade of the license? There is a tool that is able to release the lock SLP-OEM?
Thank you for your reply. I made two phone calls to two different operators and Microsoft both have asked me: -Number HP (present the sticker underneath the notebook) -Number Standard Windows Control Panel \ System and Security \ System Then they checked on their terminals and said that my OEM license has a block of type SLP. SLP is not a code on a system antipiracy present on OEM licenses?
Tito thanks for your information. When not at home (where instead there is a notebook) and so I can not run the command that you suggested. Between 2/3 hours back home, I will launch the command and let you know the result. Returning to the subject the idea that I have done is this: -I Changed to the notebook hard disk that has license oem -a due to changing the hard disk manufacturer hp blocked the license which has now error SLP -because license locked in SLP is not working windows update. I can add that I try to put the old hard drive original HP, and with this hard disk windows update is working properly.

What does it mean?
I tried the microsoft fix you suggested but the problem remains as it is. If you confirm that you be sure that you think the problem windows update does not depend on the license, I give up the track of the license and I get back on the track of the only windows update. I could use the 4 discs HP, (I created in the first days of life with the procedure HP) to return the notebook to the factory (I've done that but I can try again). Once restored notebbok, I will have a "clean" where to start to make attempts to resolve the problem UPDATE. I have a doubt: restore the notebook to the factory does decrease the counter number of remaining restores Windows: 1 I think not, but I'd like to have a confirmation.
The problem is not the licensing, and not the new hard drive. Those 4 HP discs will restore the original OS, software, and the original oem:slp license, every time you use them. That count refers to the number of times the Windows 30-day evaluation period can be restored, after which time activation becomes mandatory.
I just finished restoring the notebook with 4 discs HP. Unfortunately nothing has changed, even with the fix fix50123.msi. Windows update is not working. I welcome suggestions on what to do to run windows update
How is it failing? Is there an error message? I sometimes see Windows update stuck at "downloading 0%" for many hours, then it might work if I leave it overnight.
It is an error popup that says: windows update: impossible to check for updates. The service is not running. You may have to restart your computer. As the error message, the service UPDATE is not running, that is not part, it does not start. It seems to me that this is not to wait but we need to identify the cause that prevents the service UPDATE leaving.
Big CaptainKirk1966 & From above, Intel RST driver was the problem and I solved by downloading from HP, http support hp com za-en document c02219204 (I can not write the link because my account has less than 20 posts) ... description from the HP website: Windows Update can not currently check for updates, Because the service is not running ... This error message Appears while performing a Windows Update. After driver installation and reboot WINDOWS UPDATE has resumed work. I enclose some scrrenshot. OK OK OK OK 1000 thanks to you and now...upgradeeeee
