Hello mates I am thinking to download windows 7. can anyone give me direct link or any ftp link so that i can download it. (I dont prefer torrent coz i am dial up user ) and one more thing can windows7 run smoothly on 512 mb of ram?I know i am living in 20th century but my pocket dont allow My graphics card is n vedia mx4000 which is also a decade old please gude me regards
Although you can install and use Windows 7 with that amount of RAM, which is minimal for 7, I suggest you better stick with Windows XP. You can try to install and test them first, of course. But if you're going to use Windows 7 as everyday usage, you may have to buy another 512MB RAM module.
major carnal rule of microsoft os': by no means do min requirements mean it won't run. never judge by that.
a little off topic but will 64x windows 7 run on 1.75 gb of ram when it says the min is 2 gb on the microsoft site? everything else is fine i got a 64x processor amd 5200+ dual core 2.7 ghz.
On my box, with drivers, another needed programs like daemon tools and AV installed, it uses about 1.1GB of RAM.
The minimum ram to install Win7 is 376 megs : ) You can claim I'm wrong on this but try it yourself ^^
I have 2 Gb RAM and the x64 version works perfectly fine. Right now there is 858 Mb in use ;p The most i've seen in use is 1Gb. But i wouldn't try installing win 7 on 512 ram though...
I installed 7 on my old desktop with 512MB RAM, uses around 380MB+ RAM most of the time, aero disabled.
Just for fun! Yesterday I installed, just for fun and test, Windows 7 Ultimate Lite on an old Fujitsu FM 6866SL7 with an Pentium 3 667 MHz CPU, 512 MB Memory, 4 MB shared VGA Memory and 20 GB HDD! The result: It's working!!!!! Ok the display resolution is just 640 x 480 because of the 4 MB!! But installed Office 2003 and working just as on XP!! Other experiences I had with W7 are that I can run software from 1992/93 without any problems as well, software which were not working in Vista anymore and rarely in XP! On an Apple like that: IMPOSSIBLE! The final is just that I'm more than happy with Windows 7!
It will run with 512mb ram but don't expect that it will work smooth. You will experience lag and hang with the system because lack ram..
intel atom with 512 mb ddr2 ra,m, seven ultimate runs morethen fine with aero. install office and it works fine, anything more didnt try.
