I bought a brand new Dell PC a year back and since few months, it keeps on restarting after every 30 -40 minutes with crash and saying, windows dint shut well, so start normally or fix problem, etc. That dos screen. What can be the reason ?
In order of probability: >Overheating of CPU or Memory >Memory going bad: test with Memtest86+ (free, Google it) >Driver conflict: restart in Safe Mode to see if your crashes stop. If they do, you have a corrupt file or driver conflict >Virus infection If you want more help, we need more information; When did this first start? Have you installed any new hardware or software? Post the detailed specs of your computer. We are here and you are there possibly hundreds of miles away. We only know what you are telling us, and you haven't told us anything about your system setup.
By that do you mean a BSOD ... Blue Screen of Death. If so, what info is it giving you? If no, you need to reset Start up and Recovery options so your machine doesn't restart upon faulting but gives you a BSOD and its clues.
Just a heads-up: unless you know how to read a crash dump, that file is going to be meaningless to you. Windows7 logs an error every time something, no matter how small or unimportant, doesn't "do it by the book". 99% of the logged "errors" are harmless and useless. You have to recognize which of the many error messages is the one you need, and then how to analyze it. Don't put a lot of hope in the crash dump file.
Crash Dump files are likely to be just a bunch of jibberish unless you've expertise in interpreting them. If you're restarting but getting no BSOD you need to reset your restart on fault option to not restart. That way when you get a fault, the BSOD will display. As much as I hate blue screens, they do give rudimentary data as to what's going on and sometimes give a faulting file name. The error codes given are sometimes useful, but one thing's for sure, if you're not seeing a BSOD and your system is faulting, you're not getting the clues no matter how poor they might be. If you reset the option and you still get no blue screen, then I'd guess you back to excessive heat or the other things already posted. Have you made sure your cooling air is not being disrupted?
