So I decided to re-install Pro and try do to the GWX process. The COA lists an ISO name (I guess) under the Product key: X16-93649. Do I need that exact image to re-install and register with this key? Or will any Pro OEM image work? Searched for X16-93649 but couldn't find it by that name.
You may use any Windows 7 retail ISO as long as you delete/rename a file named ei.cfg in the ISO. If you search this you'll find plenty of information. If you still need help, just ask.
You can also use the Advanced Tokens Manager 3.5 RC5 to backup and restore your OEM reg info. You'll find this tool right here at MDL.
You don't need that particular version of the ISO. If you have a Windows 7 pro key, you could download a Windows 7 pro ISO and install, use your key and be done with it. Or as rEApEAt mentioned, simply download any Windows 7 ISO and remove the ei.cfg filename, this will allow you to install any version of Windows you want, of course you would choose Pro as that is the key you own.
biggest question I have is, do you need 64 bit or 32 bit? I will PM you links to both and you can choose the ISO you need from the two. -ed- you have a private message.
Thanks to all. I have it installed and activated. Now it's waiting for GWX invitation. Yesterday it did over 300 updates totalling more than 1.2 gigs.
Not sure if anyone can help me, but I have a Vaio laptop that no longer has the recovery partition and I wanted to re-install Windows 7 in order to further upgrade to 10. The laptop has the sticker with a Windows 7 Pro OA product key. Will I be able to re-install Windows 7 using that key?
Thanks for the reply, but it was too late. I have already installed a Dell OEM ISO and was able to activate 7 using my COA key. EDIT: What good would be the key to use on another computer? Only good to use in a computer that doesn't have SLP 2.1 SLIC, right?
