Hi to everyone, my question is very simple and I hope to get an answer as soon as possible:
what does mean each number group that conform the Windows product ID; that to say, these string:
XXXXX-XXX-XXXXXXX-XXXXX. For example, If a Windows is preinstalled on a new laptop or pc, the second group is OEM but if not, what should be this value and the rest of groups?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hello,
    00426-OEM-8992662-00497
00426 - This one indicates the Windows 7 Edition (in this case it is Ultimate)
OEM / XXX = OEM = Indicates the product type - Original Equipment Manufacturer (either purchased from a retail shop (OEM:COA / OEM:NONSLP / preinstalled universal key)
8992662 - Indicates the brand name of the product key (mostly it is common for all OEM keys) will differ if it is other type of key.
00497 - This will have your PC configuration stored and registered with Microsoft.

    Hope this clears you. :)
