On a legitimate install of Windows 7 Professional X64 which is currently activated on a Dell Optiplex Desktop, how does one get the little icon in the right hand tray that says your software is eligible for Windows 10, Reserve your copy here?
Sorry, that URL only references that you have the reserve icon in the task bar to the right, it doesn't tell you how or where to get the icon to appear
Nothing is straight forward with Microsoft. You have to hunt around to find what your looking for. Found in order for this feature to work, Windows 7 Professional must be at Service Pack 1, and two updates must be included in the updates, KB2952664 and KB3035583. Just staring the upgrades now. Boy I wish this was an IMAC.
Yeah that would be a lot better. Just like that eMac I've got sitting on my spare desk, hasn't seen an update since Leopard and I had to hack that one on there because the CPU was a few MHz below the cutoff point. But amazingly, I've got Intel based PCs of the same age that will shortly be running Windows 10. Regarding reserving the upgrade via the aforementioned patches and Windows Update: There's absolutely no requirement to reserve anything ahead of time, when the ISOs are available just download the appropriate one and install it.
As a Microsoft Refurbisher I have license for both Windows 7 and 8 Professional software, so I have all the keys I need. I have over 55 laptops sitting here ready to be upgraded for my gifts to high school students for the fall semester. So if my refurbisher program doesn't come out with 10 Professional by August but 10 Professional id released by Microsoft, I'm hoping I will be able to upgrade all these 55 laptops with either Win 7 or 8 Pro.
i don't believe i just say it ..look like happened in alot people but still microsoft can cut the 30-40% users of MS even even if the unlawfully
As a Microsoft Refurbisher with a legal dvd of Windows 7 Professional SP1 I installed the software from the CD, did all the updates to date, and still wasn't able to see the invitation for the Windows 10 upgrade. Had all the updates required including the IE11, and still no Icon in the task bar. I just sent a message to RRPNA and asked them if we are licensed will be able to upgrade our existing Windows 7 Pro SP1 and Windows 8 Pro to Windows 1 Pro. Waiting to hear their response
I would calm down a bit. The dreaded Notification via GWX is mostly a big promotion and additionally a PITA . A legitimatly licensed system is eligable for the Upgrade and a reservation isn't mandatory, you can also upgrade via the ISO.
My whole reason for my comments have been that I have over 55 laptops being made ready for the new school semester in late August for which I have been using Windows 8.1 Pro for these students. It would be nice if I had the new software so that I could rewrite my procedures and present these students with the most up to date software. i have also written to RRPNA and Microsoft about this issue, but still haven't had a response.
