    Hi,

    I just bought a HP dv4 with Windows 7 Home Premium, now due to some unavoidable requirements I need to have Licensed Windows 7 Professional.

    Also, I have another Sony Vaio with Vista Home Premium. Now what will be more beneficial; upgrading from Win 7 Home Premium to Professional or Vista Home Premium to Win 7 Professional?

    Pls assist how should I go about the upgrade.

    Thanks tcntad for replying.

    I have two of these notebooks, out of which I need either one with Licensed Windows 7 Professional. Which would be a better option in terms of cost of upgrade?

    Rather than leave us hanging in suspense, could you tell us your country?

    India. Get this message when trying to use WAU;
    Contacted the MS Support, they too are saying that the upgrades are not available currently.

    WAU is not available for India. Buy an upgrade from amazon as WinFLP suggested or contact MS, India to find out whether they are selling the upgrade versions there.

    For me, you should get the most benefit by upgrading the Vista Home Premium to WIndows 7 Professional. If online WAU is not available, then buy a retail or upgrade version.

    You can do an in-place upgrade to Win 7 Home Premium without entering a Cd-Key. When you get Win 7 HP up and running, you can use the key from the retail or upgrade version on Windows Anytime Upgrade. I've done that also on a Sony Vaio.

    If your first laptop came with Win 7 OEM pre-installed, you can use the appropriate SLP key in the repository on WAU to upgrade to Professional edition.

    I have that in back of my mind as it will help me getting Win 7 on both. But for this I'll have to shell out a bit more.

    One of my reason to post my this query was this, that is there any way I can make this OEM Home Premium a licensed Win 7 Professional?

    I assumed when the OP said
    it meant an actual purchased version, probably for the purposes of business.
