Hi, I bought a brand new laptop and it came with Windows 7 Pre-Installed, but also with alot of extra software (trialware), if I re-install Windows 7 (using the ISO downloaded from the Windows 7 Digital River Thread), can I use the OEM SLP key (it's the same one listed in the OEM SLP Key Thread) and will Windows 7 be activated? Thank You.
you'll need the certificate too - there are tools on this forum for backing it up and restoring it - or it may be one included in the certificate collection here as well. easier may be to just try PC-Decrapifier, But it's up to you...
Do as Timesurfer says - use Daz loader to insert the cert & OEM SLP only, nothing else. I've done my 3 new laptops like that.....and many more for other people
Could I backup my key/slic and re-insert it after a re-install? I know I could use the Daz Loader, I just like learning extra things .
Yup, anyway that site owner is me How did you think we were able to collect all those keys, certs and bins? SLIC & Certs are collected and shared here, these then can be used for moding bios and in Daz loader and such, these files are common and not personized so there is no way ms could track you down as leaker or such. Same pricipale with OEM:SLP keys, every system made by that manufacturer is using the exact same key. BTW, what brand are we talking about? Might as well already be listed.
That only works if Daz loader holds a matching Certificate for that manufacrurer's SLIC in bios, otherwise a replacement should be used. This is exactly why i asked the SLIC & Cert to be uploaded. Daz could incorporate these new additions in his loader, meaning next time a user with that specific SLIC can simply click 'install' and enjoy brand specific activation.
In that case all files/keys are already known, everything timesurfer told you applies to you... you could just run Daz Loader and it will install Certificate & Key (SLIC is skipped as you have 2.1 SLIC in BIOS)
Run the following commands from an elevated command prompt (ie run as administrator) slmgr -ilc full-path-to-your-cert (ie c:\acer.xrm-ms)
