I wonder how this announcement affects the possibility Windows 7 SP2. Maybe get it on or before April 9, 2012 or maybe it means SP2 has been canned (if it ever really existed) and now Microsoft intends to concentrate on the lovely and talented Windows 8. Which by the way is currently setting sales records in the dismal range. Oh well .....
Maybe someone needs to do a petition to get MS to release SP2 for Win7, and Steve Ballmer needs to go!
Maybe, but i doubt it, as that will take away interest in Win8. I just wish MS stop thinking about it's bank account once in awhile, and instead focus on feedback from their customers.
Maybe it's also possible that they will stop Service Pack completely! I thinking about what they told about Windows Blue, it would be a huge Update instead of an Service Pack for Windows 8. Also they would shorten the changing cycle from one OS to the next one!
That might work for Win8 and beyond, but i believe that rule shouldn't apply to Win7, and with the amount of post-sp1 updates (400+ at last count), it's getting beyond stupid, Windows 7 desperately needs a 2nd SP, and MS can afford to make another SP for Win7. MS needs to stop copying other companies, like Apple, and come up with new ideas of their own.
Actually they could do both and in the long run take care of their bottom line. You have to remember, a corporation has three goals in it's mission: Grow the company Grow the bottom line Increase stockholder equity Satisfied customers are not required so long as the three goals are met. BUT, if you have customers satisfied, meeting those three goals is usually much easier and happens with better results. Of course, you can neglect your customers just so long but Microsoft, as a profit oriented corporation, is not anywhere near that per experienced and savvy financial analysts.
That's what "Grow the bottom line" means. [h=2]Definition of 'Bottom Line'[/h] Refers to a company's net earnings, net income or earnings per share (EPS). Bottom line also refers to any actions that may increase/decrease net earnings or a company's overall profit. A company that is growing its net earnings or reducing its costs is said to be "improving its bottom line".
Windows blue is to change updating completely the way I understand it, to do an update across the entire win8 platform (e.g. desktop, phone, RT etc.) at once. Perhaps Win7 will get some bluing too lol Win7 BLUE! OH YOU! NOT TRUE!? Ahh hell I dunno
Windows 7 is the best OS Microsoft came out with since XP. If they don't release another service pack for Win7, they are seriously messing with their own legacy and dishonoring their customers.
you can be sure of security fixes while its still supported, but its solid enough that I wouldn't want them adding new "features" to it, as to need multiple patches to fix patches of the new "features" hehe
