Windows 7 Search button?

    I want to put the "windows search button" back in the Start Menu on Win 7. It was removed in Vista SP1 but, there was a registry tweak to replace it. However, the Windows 7 registry has been changed.

    surely you press "START" and it couldnt be any closer to your mouse pointer as it is?

    or am i missing something here?

    As micky1punch said, press Start & just type what you want to search for

    No... Search was turned on in the start button advanced properties. There was a tab on the right side where run, network, etc was. MS removed it after Vista SP1, because of third party apps [i.e. google]felt they were locked out of windows search apps.

    The search area now[above "Start"]is not the same...

    it's not the same but it does a better job anyways...
