    Hi all...Question.

Looking to put W7 onto my mates Hi Grade M760 s lappy.

After a bit of delving i found out the BIOS is Clevo ????
And on here there already is a BIOS mod to add SLIC2.1 Which is nice.
Checking the files out i downloaded the cert is Acer.
The files i have for acer are for W7 Home Premium.
    I want to install Ultimate.

Is it just a matter of changing the slp info to the ultimate key, or is it more involved than that..

    cheers..

    mmmmmmmmmm...

I downloaded from the "OEM Folder" thread the files for Acer Home Premium.
I know this will install Home Premium from my W7 dvd.
I want to install W7 Ultimate.
The Acer cert will be ok but the key is wrong.
From the thread "Windows 7 OEM SLP Key Collection"
it gives me the Acer Ultimate code.

If i alter the OEM SLP Script from the Home Premium code to the Ultimate code and save the script is that all that needs to be done to install W7 Ultimate.

As it is not your laptop I would install 7 Ultimate and try Daz's loader to see if it goes OK.

Look for the tool to modify ei.cfg file on DVD - I assume this what you are looking for - modifying the ei.cfg file on the DVD iso allows you to install any version of 7 included on the DVD - probably not Business or Enterprise.

If it works you could advise about a BIOS mod - which is not without risk.

There is nothing like bricking a mate's computer to enhance your frienship - except girlfriend/boyfriend etc.

I like Rosco's approach to dealing with activation in a simple, safe, completely uninstallable way when using daz loader. I also feel that it's not an inferior activation method in comparison to a bios mod. It's great that you successfully flashed your friends tower but what if a bios mod ruins his board that you want to activate the OS on? I'd wait for when bios mod is absolutely necessary and until then use daz loader. Ya never know the daz loader may work through the entirety of windows 7 lifespan at least considering any potential new daz versions.

    So RTM + daz 1.7.7 = awesomeness

As a good boy i took your wise words and took no notice and flashed the BIOS.

    Phew it worked...

Installed W7. Not an homemade OEM version but a disc i have with the ei.cfg file deleted altogether,so i can install any version i like.
Checked the SLIC info, there she wa SLIC 2.1.
Manually installed the cert and key.

    Voila genuine W7..

    My mate will be pleased....

Thanks for the help and advice..

    Cheers..
