    Well I believe you.
    Depending where you got those updates, someone could easily have added a fake one with them that changes you registry.

    Seems I have found the update that creates SP2 string: Windows6.1-KB674101.

    Install it and you will receive SP2 string even without rebooting!

    Well then it's another kb who did this or a bug in those updates.

    First off thavmym, according to the images you posted you are running 64 bit Windows 7 on your PC and in your VM you have 32 bit Windows installed so you are essentially comparing 2 different versions of windows as if they were supposed to be identical...

    Next, I have that same update installed ("Windows6.1-KB674101-x86[Update for Windows Services Stack].msu" is what it was called when I downloaded it; I have all the other updates you have posted installed as well) and I don't have "Service Pack 2" showing up in my Computer Properties windows...or anywhere for that matter.

    Have you used any windows tweaking tools or installed a "pre-activated" version of Windows or anything like that??? Something smells fishy here IMHO... :confused:

    EDIT: Do you have a good virus scanner? :p

    I suggest to install Windows 7 with updates in a virtual machine like Virtual PC (free) before to install in the real PC. ;)

    That is probably a wise suggestion... Since I purchased a pre-release copy of Win7 and plan on reinstalling on ~Oct. 22nd anyway, it does not really matter if I mess anything up so I just install most of the Zukona updates as they are released. I have noticed no side effects and if anything, my Windows seems to load up a little faster than before and some issues that I had with Explorer and my USB drive seem to have been resolved. (I had a problem when using a USB drive for ReadyBoost, sometimes when my PC would revert back from 'Sleep Mode' then ReadyBoost would no longer work properly...)

    found what exactly you changed:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Windows]

    CSDVersion

    000 = no SP
    100 = SP1
    200 = SP2
    300 = SP3
    etc

    now please stop bulls**ting, or if you didnt do it intentionaly, then stop runing random registry files...

    What are the chances that thavmym downloaded and installed STALKER Call of Pripyat (Russian version) and used the "CSDVersion = 200 reg hack" to bypass the Starforce copy protection?
