Windows 7 to 8.1 Upgrade while retaining all programs, apps, settings etc? Possible?

    What do you mean LINK to nowhere?

    The last time I asked it was not possible to go from Win 7 to Win 8.1 directly while keeping all apps, settings intact. One had to go from 7 > 8 > 8.1

    This above link says otherwise.. whats correct and what am I missing?
