Windows update doesn't work, it just keeps on checking for updates then later on have an error code 80072F78 that has something to do with correct time and date synchronization. My time and date is sync correctly with regards to my location.

The error in Event viewer states: "NtpClient was unable to set a manual peer to use as a time source because of DNS resolution error on ''. NtpClient will try again in 3473457 minutes and double the reattempt interval thereafter. The error was: No such host is known. (0x80072AF9)"

see attachment for the actual error in WU.

    Thanks in advance for helping.

Click right on the time on the taskbar and click on the option "Adjust Date/Time".
Then go to the "Internet Time" tab and press the button "Change Settings". There you want to press the "Update Now" button. ;)
Now finally restart your computer and try again.

Tried the methods in the link but also didn't work.

Before I encountered this 80072F78 error code I also had an error updating and some website that had a tutorial to delete all the contents in "Software Distribution" but after that I encountered the said error.

can you try uninstalling them and installing msse (bloat-free, free and anti-annoying :D) after a reboot? I've been using it for years as a power user and never had an infection. The rest out there are just not needed.

What didn't work? You couldn't reset time and date via an internet service? If internet update didn't work, reset time and date manually. That works too and the the exact time is not important ... just day, month and year must be correct.
