Hi. I just flashed modded slic 2.1 bios on Gigabyte MA770_UD3 Rev 2.0 without any problems. I just installed Windows 7 without serial and it says "Windows is Activated". Do I still need to install certificate? Thanks.
If it's already activated, u dont need to do anything else. however, usually it's required 1. bios with slic 2.1 2. certificate matched to slic 3. an oem slp key unless you get the installation disc from Gigabyte otherwise it may be a customised installation disc using loader or activator.
Did you use an untouched ISO of Win 7? Did you use a loader after installation to add key/cert/slic emulation? The reason I ask is that there are some versions that install a loader ("BIE", Windows 7 OEM "fully activated" etc... or about 90% of the Win 7 torrents floating around) If thats the case then it defeats the purpose of upgrading your bios. If you didnt use a loader of some kind then something put the cert in there.... An untouched ISO wouldnt do that as far as I know. Use an untouched ISO which can be found in one of the stickies if you haven't alrdy.
I find it hard to believe that activation on a bios mod + clean iso can happen without inserting a matching cert and some (slp) key... Maybe a premodded/activated iso ?
No cert that matches the SLIC, no OEM:SLP activation. So if 7 activates without the user installing the right cert then something else must have installed it for them. In this case this would probably be a non-official auto-activating homebrew scene-release image.
It said pre-actiavted when I got the Windows 7 DVD. But without the modded bios it said 30 days to activation. As soon as I flashed with modded bios it said "Windows is Activated".
No it could be an oem slp dvd if he had say dell slic2.1 in bios it will be activated. if he used a dell oem dvd, just an example.
