Hi I've installed windows 8 and I was able to change the screen brightness without any issues. After installing windows 8.1 however, I wasn't able to change the screen brightness. I was only able to change it when using the standard windows graphics driver, but when using the AMD driver it won't work. Can this be fixed, because it's a bit annoying.. Thanks in advance!
assuming it is a notebook/laptop: Perhaps the manufacturer of that machine provides a new 8.1 version overriding current versions to work properly on your box?
It's a laptop btw I just looked on the site, but it only has a windows 8 version.. Weird thing is that when I used windows 8, I could change the brightness with the same 14.4 driver.
we recently detected some funny "malfunctions" when 8.1 was installed or even updates were installed over an older version of system. Hardware and bios sometimes cause such behaviour and CAN lead to a dead end with some boxes. Wait until some guys here might have a fix for your problem
thanks for your reply. I've formatted my drive before installing windows 8.1 though.. But like you say, I'll wait and hope some guy here can help me fix this issue
best you provide specs of your box just in case: Make, model et cetera to look into available stuff for you to help
it's an acer aspire 7740G laptop with graphics ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470.. Clean install of windows 8.1.
i use the default driver that windows is installing automatically its could be set after few mins the windows is running its have the best color /brightness setting so far all i used from amd website it dont set it properly
