I'm having a problem with Windows 8.1 that I hope someone can help with. I have got the MICROSOFT.WINDOWS.8.1.RTM.X64.ENGLISH.DVD-WZT, downloaded it a second time to make sure it wasn't corrupt. I run the install, clean system, it goes through the install fine. When it gets to the first getting drivers ready screen, it's crashes with an IRQ error. Now this only happens on my computer, has installed fine on another test system. I'm running an Asrock X79 Extreme4-M mother board, with 32 gig 1866 ram, intel i7 3820, setting in the bios have been set to default UEFI. Windows 8 installs fine, but 8.1 crashes every time. Please Help. Thanks in advance. Jesse
Yes, windows 8 has been working perfectly for a long time now. I always keep the drivers up to date, and have never had any problems.
yes, updated the bios a few weeks ago with the latest 3.00, which now supports full 8.1.40.1416_1.5M Intel Management, and version 12.7 of Intel RST.
Going to try an upgrade to 8.1, see if that makes any difference. hopefully be reporting good news soon.
Well after running an upgrade to try and get 8.1 working, it got to around the same place, the ran a revert back, and came up saying windows 8.1 could not be installed, and the computer has been set back to the way it was.... this is soooo frustrating. anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance. Jesse
I had same issue with the preview in the Store, it got as far as the final stage where it sets up personal settings/desktop etc then crashed and on rebooting it rolled back to previous state and was never able to install it again after that so gave up. I have not tried so far using the ISO I grabbed here.
Well after a lot of process of elimination it works out that the ASUS PCE-N53 300Mbps 11n Dual band Wireless LAN PCI-E Card is not compatible at all with windows 8.1, I have put the network card in 2 other computers running windows 8.1, and instantly they crash. so time to get a new network card.
