Everything been over-clocked to the max on my system AMD system CPU been clocked to 4.42GHz and my crossfire HD 7950 have been clocked to 1035MHz / 1450MHz and all this has all been done on a fresh install of Windows 8.1 even the intternet feels slow to my torrent speeds ...
"feels" is your apreciation, btw, overclock doesn't speed up internet, is your isp the problem or bad drivers for network card installed
Actually you most likely have a problem Take the time to visit the various chip manufacturer websites and download the latest drivers, most will have a driver August or later for 8.1 yet many of the Microsoft supplied drivers in the RTM are much earlier than that. Until I updated the Intel wireless drivers, the Intel LAN driver was not working right - weird but it just shows that any driver can mess things up not just the one you suspect... Also if you have the Explorer DLNA bug, it will make you system feel very slow indeed even if there are no explorer crashes. There is a registry tweak to disable that.
1. Set your Pagefile to the size recommended in the window for setting the size (choose custom and type in the recommended number for both lower and upper values). 2. Run an elevated CMD and call up MSCONFIG. In the General tab, select Normal. In the Boot tab, put a check in the box to make settings permanent. Click on Advanced Options. Put a check in the box for Number of processors. Open the drop down box and select the highest number. Put a check in the box for Maximum Memory. Click on OK. Click on Apply. Click on Yes. Click on OK. Click on Restart. These two changes should improve performance.
I recommend trying to get the latest drivers for your specific chipsets. Use only win81 verified drivers. Using just win8 drivers will likely cause problems
Drivers, that's the main problem with 8.1. Its not officially out yet so it wont work as expected until then.
Now that 8.1 is available to a very large number of people on MSDN, I am seeing regular driver additions to Windows Update. Intel and others are also moving quickly to update their driver downloads. The main issue seems to be that for some reason, a large number of people are forgetting to treat 8.1 like the O/S update that it actually is and then they forget to seek out the updated drivers.
That's not always the best plan as with the SSD's they don't need to be defragmented. If he is using a mechanical drive (hint it has a laser lol) then by all means defrag to your hearts content. As another side issue most of the time Windows has a built in auto defrag program that handles this. It would be better to get a third party tool.
I haz a curious quesiton. How did you get the Frequency so high on the 8320 when the usual Overclock wattage to the cpu usually goes through the roof on the AMDs?
Will looking into finding some better drivers but isn't easy right this moment guys but will do full lot of benchmarks later this evening ...
So far Windows 8.1 is so unstable go to reboot my system after stress testing everything for a number of hours ? can't turn stuff off or change anything even system restore gone wtf even my hhd says i have a full empty hdd which isn't true at all ..
an overclocker who cant distinguish between CPU/GPU/memory OVERCLOCK and internet speed, thats REALLY, REALLY FUNNY. You funny Nicky31.
