I think it may have happened after the latest Escrow update, but I am not sure. Anyway, Windows 8.1 now displays refresh rates that are not available for my TV and monitor, which creates a big problem with software that likes to automatically change refresh rates. I have NO idea how to fix that... Re-installing the same or newer drivers does not work, no display device drivers exist for this TV & monitor, re-installing DirectX also didn't help...
Yes, when that box is ticked - it STILL shows unsupported resolutions. I think this is a bigger problem...
perhaps check with your manufacturer's video driver if at latest point. Maybe an earlier version does the job better than the latest. We saw all versions since quite some years
