Hey, I got my Windows 7 Ultimate machine upgraded to Windows 10 Pro 10240 without problems. It's activated and everything seems fine. I got another notebook with Windows 8.1 (Non-Pro). Can I upgrade it to 10 Pro the same way as well? Or can I only upgrade it to Windows 10 Home? thanks, polford
Right now I believe you can upgrade to Windows 10 technical preview and upgrade to pro for $1 through the add features setting
You can upgrade to Windows 10 Home for free. Alternatively, you could upgrade to Windows 8.1 Pro using the Add Features option and inputting the generic Windows 8.1 Pro key, activate Windows 8.1 Pro using MAK or KMS, and then update to Windows 10 Pro for free.
If your win8.1 has an updated pkeyconfig(thru WU), you could use PID checker to see what's the version of OEM;DM key, it probably is Win10 Home, and that's the edition you will get with the free upgrade on/after Jul 29.
I have Windows 8.1 Pro WMC activated via phone. Can I get Windows 10 Pro activated version through upgrade?
Yes, Windows 8.1 Pro WMC gets upgraded to Windows 10 Pro for free. Windows 10 kills off WMC, however.
I was able to upgrade my free windows 8.1 enterprise toolkit activated pc to windows 10 pro for free. Process is simple. Become a Insider and upgrade to Windows 10 Insider Pro build by booting to the same using a usb. Install the latest Windows 10 build 10240 Pro. It was activated on booting up.
As I know, the license not allow you to do this, but you still can activate Windows 7 with the same key.
