Hi, We have three machines still running xp but can't use some programs due to deprecated os. I don't remember specs but they're higher than 2.5 GHz cpu and 3+ gb ram (older than ddr3). Should I install windows 8.1 or windows 7 to them?
I think windows 7 more logical because it's older and supported system but support will be end in 2020, nearly 1.2 years, in other side windows 8.1 will use more sources than windows 7 but will supported more than win7.
We generally using these pcs for doing some stuff over internet.

If I should install windows 7, I can able to avoid some trashy updates (like telemetry) with simplix update pack.
But If I should install windows 8, I don't know how to avoid some trashy updates. Is there any viable option like simplix for win8 side?
(I know solution were posted but I can't find it. I can't use forums very well, It's kind a complicated to me. Must watch 5-6 or 10+ pages in old thread for finding some stuff)

I'm looking forward to answers, thank you & have a great day/night.

    EDIT:
Installed Windows 7 SP1 with simplix pack, installed drivers with SDIO and done. YAY!
I don't think I get matter amount of performance loss.

Sounds like P4/AMD Athlon XP systems?

Even windows 7 now has some hardware requirements which block it from being used on unsupported cpu's.

I really don't know if 8.1 will use more resources compared to 7 (or even 10 for that matter).

And i would go for the x86 editions (ofcourse i would test x64 too, when the systems are x64).

Here is some guidance, by @abbodi1406, for people not liking Telemtry on 7 or 8.1:

Hey, thanks for the reply :) I really appreciate it.
Yes, i think it's old intel pentium processor. I'm gonna integrate latest windows 7 updates into iso and won't update it in further. Because these pcs kind a slow I don't want to struggle more lags while downloading/installing updates. Do you know anyway to install updates like simplix for win8.1? or Should I consider only install clean windows 8.1.

I want to install windows 8.1 on my personal pc but don't want to test update stuff like install, test and remove method. I don't think system requirements between win7 and win10 is same because I got lags and more hidden processes use more resources than windows 7 also win10 sents data to m$ servers while pc is get ready to use.
I know win10 ltsb but new version is kind a bad to me.

Processors without SSE2 do not get any Windows updates anymore, even on XP POS. Don't bother with that old hardware. For casual tasks, these machines can still be used with the help of ANTIX Linux.

Modern browsers in their official releases require SSE2. Under ANTIX Linux, Firefox Quantum runs on Athlon XP, for example.

Hi, thanks for the reply :) I really appreciate it.
I will definitely try linux on these machines for sure, thank you.
I'm sick of windows 10 privacy policies that makes me use linux as main os. :(
