These are the official instructions for adding WMC to Windows 8.1 Pro:
Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search.
Enter add features in the search box, and then tap or click Settings.
Tap or click Add features to Windows 8.1 and then do one of the following:
If you need to purchase a product key, tap or click I want to buy a product key online.
Follow the steps to purchase and enter a product key.
If you already have a product key, tap or click I already have a product key.
Enter your product key and click Next.
Read the license terms, select the check box to accept the license terms, and then click Add features.

When I search for and select Add Features I get a "Turn Windows Features On or Off" window, but there is no WMC there! There is no option to add WMC or to enter a product key or anything like that...

There exists a VL version of Pro, where you can't upgrade to ProWMC, seems you got that.

Any workaround to install WMC in Windows 8.1 Pro VL?

That's exactly my problem! I have Windows 8.1 Pro volume licence and when I try to add Windows Media Center I see the annoying message "You cannot add features to this version of Windows". As far as I know, Microsoft had released a patch for this problem for Windows 8. Do you know if there is any version for Windows 8.1? Or if I can find Windows Media Center, download it and then install it offline? Any other workaround?

    Thank you in advance!

Nope no standalone and WMC files not in VL wim... I still don't get the need for Pro VL...I mean what's the point... ?

It's like Pro retail with a pid.txt but without WMC?

Or just install a codec pack and use Windows Media Player for every type of media file. It is simpler and lightweight.

I recommend installing Shark007's codec packs, but you can choose any.

    Or just install VLC :p

The WMC is mostly used as TV software and interestingly it's ways better than the other solutions i tested (including the crappy tool that came with my DVBT device) :g:.
