So installed Windows 8.1 by doing an upgrade and when I try to enter my new product key, it tells me it is invalid. The key I have is from MSDN and it worked fine on Windows 8. I've tried doing it both through the GUI and command prompt. Any suggestions?

In case one wants help, it´s recommended to give as much info as possible so people can help :D

Did that message appear when you try to activate online?

NOTE: This is still no official Release :cool2:.

As I stated, I cannot even enter my key to activate. It just tells me it is invalid. Since I cannot enter my key, I cannot activate. I don't know how much more information I can give.

I know this isn't an official release.

Use other product key or wait October 18 for 8.1 product keys.

Yuck, I was hopping I wouldn't have to do that. I will wait a little before attempting doing that, but if that is my only solution, I guess I will have to.

you could have replied to each one of us in a single post via multi quote [ the symbol witha plus sign in the right bottom conner of each post ]

ok now if you are installing / upgrading from a activated win 8 pro to win 8.1 pro what is the new key all about? you should have just upgraded, did you change the key at any point of time?

One other possibility, MSDN/Technet keys now expire with the subscription (Technet at least). Could the key have expired?
