I've been playing with the new search charm in windows 8.1. When I search, I only get web results. If I specifically narrow the search to 'files' then I get 'no file results found for your search.' Doing the same search in windows explorer doesn't work if 'This PC' is highlighted, but if I highlight 'documents' then it work correctly. I've rebuilt the search index, and it shows 'indexing complete'. Any suggestions?
I was curious about this as well. In older windows versions you could enter "cmd" in the search bar and then ctrl+shift+enter to run the searched result as admin. This was a fast way of starting admin command prompt Now you can just press winkey+x then "A" to open admin prompt, but that's not why I was curious. I was curious because the file search didn't find cmd at all. Anyone have any ideas?
Hmm I did do an upgrade but I chose the path to keep nothing. Do you guys get results trying "cmd" or "cmd.exe" when you run the find files option? (winkey+f)
ah, you're right. When selected search in flies doesn't work. If selected search in all it works well
I have a different problem with search: Settings and Files search work properly but Everywhere shows results from neither (actually it does but i have to wait like a minute).
'cmd' works fine for me - search for apps works fine, and I get online results fine. I just don't get any results for local files.....
Mine works fine for file searches, but only in my local disk "C:"; does not find anything in disk "D:" (I have my HDD drive partitioned and store most files/docs on D: )
