Windows 8.1 Update Error 0×80070004

    Hi, I would be greatful, if anyone can help me to get out of this error :mad: Evertime i try to update my Windows 8 to Windows 8.1, i get the following error 0×80070004 with the following description:

    "An error has occurred and the installation was unsuccessful. Try again."

    Any suggestions? What possibly can be the reason ..

    gone through this threat several times, but nothing works :/

    uninstall any Symantec crap or other AV sh!t
    If you have used some registry cleaning software, you also might face such problems

    Have you tried updating from store (like the user from the MS forum) or ISO??

    I am running AVG Security Program 2014... Should i disable it? I am trying to update from a fresh installed Windows 8. Have not tried any maintenance or registry software on this OS yet..

    Trying from Store... How to make an ISO image file?? It may work for me ..

    AV , i thought refers to AVIRA :p Ok i will try and will let you know if fixes the issue.

    I had this error but i managed to fix it somehow? Try using every windows 8 FixIt Centre program available online.. Heres one: www(DOT)support(DOT)microsoft(DOT)com/gp/windows-update-issues/en-gb
    Not sure if it will work but its the thought that counts :rolleyes: btw i cant post links so (DOT) you will have to replace with . :jumpon:

    thanks for the link SkaterStu !! I had this issue fixed yesterday !! I found it was either the AVG Antivirus or Moved Users Directory, so i uninstalled the AVG and Linked Users Directory with System Drive. Now I have Windows 8.1 installed on my system.

    Thankx for the everyone who appeared and recommended the ways to resolve it !!
