I had two PCs update just fine, but the third one - Win 8.1 64 bit wmc - failed.
I did all the recommended stuff, DISM, scannow, disk cleanup - all to no avail.
    I then installed all the separate components in the order below and it worked;
    1.KB2919442
    2.KB2919355
    3.KB2932046
    4.KB2937592
    5.KB2938439
    6.KB2934018
    Good luck

    @ pisthai

Hui, when even the /RestoreHealth fails, the install must be borked somehow :g:.

Normally the /RestoreHealth is using resources it downloads from MS, but can be done by pointing to a mounted WIM.

Thanks for that and I'll give it a try tomorrow. Just now I'm backing up all data from C-Drive because I plan an new and clean installation. Problem not the Update Failure, also some more problems, like the missing Desktop Icons, impossible to add Apps to the Task Bar and more. So, a clean install is on order!

Please use this advice. You must install 2919442 first, 2919355 second, etc...
I'm sure if you download things from Windows Update they will install in the correct order for you.
You must be manually installing these things incorrectly or something.

At the moment I'm backing up all relevant data which are app. 170GB. Aftre done that I'll give the manual installation a try just to see it could help. But the missing Desktop and Task Bar Icons etc. will force me anyway to an clean install! That I'll do tomorrow and also create an new Image of the plain install after that's done.

That's the first serious Problem after Vista some years ago which I face with an Windows Installation. Overall that isn't very bad, in fact it isn't bad at all despide I used that machine for intensive testing of application whit a lot installations; other add and deletes etc., etc.!

Can recall such problems with SP1 of Win 7 offered via WU in opposite to downloading and installing manually. The latter worked ways more reliable :g:.

Mmmmm.. never did the WU thing for SP's...always had separate d/l... mainly for slipstreaming.

Having said that Linux update is just as erratic...:(

No, I don't use an Registry Cleaner. I do clean the registry, if needed, just manually using both Regedit (Windows own!) and Registra Registry Manager! None of them were used upfront the problem!

how about trying sfc /scannow and using local media to repair! just a thought man before you go reinstalling
here is also a cmd to revert any pending updates in case that is what is causing the failure
    dism.exe /image:C:\ /cleanup-image /revertpendingactions

ALL done and NOTHING helps!! On Wednesday I'll do the reinstall because will not in the office before than (Thai New Year!!) and have all original apps there I need for to get installed. In real, not a big deal! Just didn't know what triggered that problem! And maybe also not bad to do that re-installation! Hadn't done since more than 2 years on the machine! So a lot rubbish will be still there!
